Localliser.com – Visualizing Social Activity

Localliser.comLocallizer is a website where you can visualize all the activity that is taking place on services such as Twitter and FourSquare on a 3D map. This map is powered by Google, and in order to have it displayed you will need to have the Google Earth plug-in installed.

But that’s the extent of requirements for using Locallizer. If you have that plug-in and you can browse the Web, then you are ready to use it right now.

And I mean it – getting the service to work is as simple as picking the data stream that you want to have visualized, and then choosing the location itself.

The full list of services whose activity can be visualized through Locallizer includes not only Twitter and FourSquare but also Gowalla, Eventful, Panoramio, Grubr and Webcams.Travel.

It would be interesting to see: A) What will happen to Localliser if any of these sites ever offers a similar functionality by default, and B) If a way for displaying a person’s activity on Facebook is ever devised. For the time being, you can try the site as it stands right now and see if you can find a practical use for it.
