ERAdvisor.com – Check Your Symptoms

ERAdvisor.comIt’s a fact that most diseases and illnesses wouldn’t be half as serious if they were detected early. But people being people, we tend to disregard symptoms and go to bed thinking we’re going to feel better tomorrow. It can’t be helped. Or can it? ERAdvisor is a new online service that lets you know exactly how serious any symptom you’ve got really is. This site indexes over 200 of these, and by picking the one that applies from a drop down menu (and choosing your age range from another) you’ll be told what should do to get better.

That can be everything from staying in bed and resting for 24 hours, to going to ER without sparing a second. Or to go somewhere else than the ER to get help. This site has been created by an epidemiologist (Mike Hartmann, BSc, MPH) who knows all-too-well how crowded emergency rooms can get when people who could easily get the medical attention they need still decide to go there for assistance.

The site features a list of trending topics, for you to know which symptoms are more recurrent. And the site also comes with a map showing the most widespread symptoms in the US and in Canada, the two countries that are actively covered.

ERAdvisor.com In Their Own Words

ER Advisor was created by an epidemiologist (Mike Hartmann, BSc, MPH) and a web developer who wanted to help ease the burden on hospitals. Too many people go to the ER when the medical attention they need can be provided elsewhere. We consulted with nurses, doctors and other epidemiologists to come up with an idea: get people to enter their symptoms online and we can suggest whether it is an emergency or not.
