StumblePics.com – The World In Pictures
StumblePics is a new service that will let you find pictures from all around the globe just by keying in a concept in the provided search box. It is as simple as that.
You can key virtually anything in, and see what crops up. Alternatively, you can click on the list of popular tags that is provided in case you are low on inspiration and want to do some random visual surfing.
That is basically it. The site does not allow you to create a list of favourite pictures, neither does it enable the user to share what he likes with a group of friends through its default interface. Pictures can’t be rated, either. Looks like someone got here first. Someone named “Flickr”.
While I commend the release of new applications and services on the whole since users have a broader range to choose from, there is a minimum level of either inventiveness or usefulness that should be met. If not both. This site meets neither, and that is the sad truth of it. The URL itself is not bad – maybe they can reshape it into something more interesting.
