  • November 22, 2011

OnTheWayApp.comOn The Way is an application that should enliven any road trip that you are going to make. It can let you plan your route from one point to the other, anywhere in the world. It lets you know about these things that you and your family, friends or any person you’re going to be traveling with could do along the way. You just have to select the point you’re starting from, and the one you want to get to for On The Way to show you all that could be done on your roadtrip.

This service is provided at no cost, and it can be used without having to register first. You can, however, log in using your Foursquare account in order to get even more accurate (and more personalized) results.

In any case, the map that’s created can be both printed and shared by spreading its unique URL around. In this way, you can plan everything a lot easier and faster. The people you’re going to be traveling with will get a chance to make changes to the itinerary you’ve created, and you’ll know about these changes the minute that they’ve been made.

Mopedmap.net – Writing The Bike Riding Best Routes

  • April 4, 2009

Mopedmap.netMopedmap.net is the right site for all of those bike loving nutters that after watching ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’ felt that they wanted to take the dust off their old bike and go for some road tripping.

Basically what this site is all about is about posting cool motorcycling routes for anyone to go and get inspired and go out on the road. Sometimes one lives near some really scenic places but you are not aware that there is a certain a track or route that is worth visiting and with the help of this site you may now start finding them. Also, if you have found a really cool route that you would like to share with everyone else you may do so. The whole process is quite simple, all you have to do is fill in a simple registration form and then you are all set to begin recording your route.

The whole app uses Google Maps as a supporting engine and therefore they may accurately calculate distances and altitudes. They even include a very cool gadget that lets you know (by means of a simple graph) the altitude throughout the route that you plan to go through.

Although the site is growing and more and more routes are added on a periodical basis, currently most of the routes are in Germany. The site already contains 326 routes to the date of this review which represent 93,152km of recorded routes.
