Embedr.com – Create Video Playlists

  • February 6, 2009

Embedr.comOnline video has come a long way since the early days of YouTube, and Embedr.com is a clear testament of that.

With the site, you’ll be able to almost instantly create a custom video playlist, which you’ll then be able to embed on your site.

All you have to do is name your playlist, and then start adding videos from different services. You can add tags, descriptions, and other things to make the playlist more complete. After you’re done, you’ll be given the embed code, which you’ll then be able to paste into you site’s code, allowing everyone to see it.

The embeddable widget is amazing, with an almost iTunes like feel. The videos are displayed in a “cover flow” way, making browsing through many videos a real pleasure. There’s also a smart playlist feature, which will allow you to instantly create playlists using keywords and YouTube user names. All in all, this is a service which bloggers will specially love.

SpotyShare.com – Share Spotify Playlists

  • January 27, 2009

SpotyShare.comFor those unfamiliar with the name, Spotify is a service whereby music can be listened to online without infringing any law or regulation, as the original artists are actually compensated for their work. This system is available in three different incarnations – a free edition for getting into the twist of things, and two paid plans that go by the names of “Day Pass” and “Premium” for those who are looking for a full set of features.

The site we are reviewing right now is geared towards those who already are Spotify users, and who wish to share their playlists with others. Playlists constitute the backbone of Spotify. SpotyShare aims to give users a centralized location for the ready exchange of playlists, pronouncing the social dimension that lies at the very heart of the system.

There is little more to say, other than it is always good to see endeavors that try to provide internauts with legal access to music files while ensuring that artists receive the corresponding remuneration for their efforts. As such, this site is a good companion to the Spotify central, and those who are already familiar with the concept will warm to it.

MixTube.org – Get Audio From YouTube

  • September 23, 2008

MixTube.orgAre you still depressed from the RIAA shutdown of Muxtape? If you are, then you have to check out Mixtube.org.

These guys realized that most of the music you want to share with your friends is already uploaded to YouTube in the form of videos, so they came up with a way for you to make playlists with it and share it with your friends. The site is really easy to use, and you’ll find that getting the music you want is really simple. There’s a chance that this might get shut down like Muxtape, but since the content is already on YouTube, the RIAA probably won’t mess with them.

They took the open-source code from OpenTape, and added some code from YouTube to make this service work. Music sharing is the future of getting the word out on new artists, and exploiting YouTube’s extensive database is a master stroke. If you’re still grieving over MuxTape, then dry your tears and check out Mixtube.org.
