TVCountdown.com – Countdown To Your Favorite Shows

  • June 29, 2011

TVCountdown.comYou know how it goes. We watch the first episode of a new show and we find it interesting-enough to decide catching the follow-up the next week, only to forget about it all when the time comes. Which is just logical – until we have become a regular watcher of the show, and the habit to sit in front of the TV a specific day at a specific time is instilled then it is just too easy to forget about doing such a thing. And that is why there are services like TVCountdown around.

TVCountdown can remind you of the time in which the next episode of just any popular show that you can watch on America is starting. And this site lets you know about that not just by telling you the exact time the show is starting, but actually by using a countdown timer that will let you know when the show is going to air. This service is provided for free, and the provided interface makes for singling these shows you are keen on in a snap.

And it must be mentioned that in addition to letting you know the start time of American shows, the site can let you know when Canadian and British shows are airing. Granted, more emphasis is placed on American shows, but there is a fair share of shows from these other territories already supported.

4Series.com4 Series is a new web service that lets you know everything about these shows that you have been following for years, and about the ones that you have become interested in recently.

This site lets you learn everything about new episodes, and it also lets you share your thoughts about older ones with others fans. You can rate and comment everything, and introduce new fans to these shows that you love in a way that is surely going to mean they will get to love them as well.

And the site also makes it very easy for anybody to find new shows to watch without having to ask anybody – the main page highlights both these shows that have been liked and watched the most by users of 4 Series. Right now, shows like House MD, The Big Bang Theory and Lost top the lists. And I am really glad to see that some perennial classics such as Friends also make an appearance.

EpisodeCalendar.com – Remember To Watch TV Shows

  • February 4, 2011

EpisodeCalendar.comThe Episode Calendar website does exactly what its name suggests: it lets you know when the next episode of a show you have taken to watching will air. You might think that such a service is superfluous, but cast you mind back to the remake of V which started being broadcast in 2009. If you do, you will remember that (for reasons not really clear to anybody) the show aired on clusters of episodes. That is, instead of a straight run of 12 episodes it aired in segments of 4 installments, many months apart one from the other.

That was an exemplary demonstration of how not to do things (and I am not even going to talk about the actual quality of the show). People have better things to do than having to check out for the next air dates (and in the case of V, installments were moved from one slot to the other). And if people had had a service like The Episode Calendar available then, the attacks on that show would surely have been less vociferous.

Using The Episode Calendar you are enabled to schedule email reminders when the next installment of a show that you have begun watching is about to air. And you can also check episodes off once you have watched them, so it can be said that the Episode Calendar will have you covered both before and after watching both the shows you have always liked, and any new one that seems promising.

Seriesly.com – A Notification Service For TV Shows

  • July 22, 2010

Seriesly.comTo all intents and purposes, Seriesly is a notification tool that will remind you about new episodes of these TV shows that you like. Of course, the idea of you forgetting to watch an episode of a show you love is non-existent (how many could forget to watch “Lost”, for example?).

A system like this one is primarily meant for these shows that you have started watching to see whether or not they resonate with you. These are the kind of episodes that you can easily bypass – few shows hook you in after just one episode, and in any case you are still to create the habit of tuning in a specific day of the week, at a specific hour.

Notifications are handled via email, iCalendar and XMPP Chat. You can also receive a personalized episode feed, and open it with your favorite RSS reader.

A private page will be generated when you sign up for the service, and you will be able to manage all your subscriptions from there. You will be allowed to add/drop shows, and change the way in which you are notified about new episodes.
