SketchMaven.com – Where Comic Art Is Traded Online
Simply put, Sketch Maven is an online marketplace where people can buy and sell original comic art. Such a site is fully justified, as comics are among the most collected items in the world, and I speak from experience – I am a keen collector of manga myself.
In order to avoid any confusion, though, it must be clarified that comic art is not an actual comic book but rather a single page that is unique by definition.
The site is very satisfying in the sense that it includes artists’ profiles and recommendations, so that those who are new to the scene will not be utterly at loss. That is important if only because newcomers might feel daunted by the sheer variety of art on offer. After all, when it comes to something like comic art (where only one page exists) some sort of guidance has to be provided for the experience to gain the necessary focus, and be sufficiently rewarding for everybody.
If the site takes off, the company will eventually expand itself and launch marketplaces for other unique collectibles, and (hopefully) change the way in which people search and transact treasured items.
