USCGboating.org – US Coast Guard’s Boating Safety

  • June 21, 2008

USCGboating.orgBefore setting out on that fishing trip you’ve been planning for so long, make sure you take a look at this site, which is home for the US Coast Guard, and responsible for providing information on recreational boating security and regulations, together with extensive information on water safety product recalls. The site is really not too interesting in terms of design, but the information it makes available is very useful and easily accessible, plus highlights make it easy to quickly identify elements of interest.

Still, I reckon it would be nice for the site to include something along the lines of a first-time boater checklist, or a special section on boating with children, pets or people with disabilities. If you are not going on a fishing trip at all or couldn’t be more scared of sailing, the site also hosts materials that might be of interest, like the ones you’ll find under the statistics tag, where you can read research about boating safety and the risk factors usually involved, learn how many accidents take place in your state or that of your destination, and other similar data. My Military Picture (TM) @ www.mymilpics.com

  • April 21, 2008

A community dedicated to the service men and women. This service was started by ex military personnel as a way to thank the members of the US Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force among other branches of the military.

The men and women in uniform have been restricted from using mainstream community services such as YouTube and MySpace by the department of defense. My Military Picture (TM) through www.mymilpics.com provides a more than comparable and suitable alternative to these sites and stacks additional services and conveniences that are specific to active military service members and veterans. It also aims at connecting these heros with their loved ones at home and around the world.
