Roundcube.net – A New And Free Email Client

Roundcube.netA tool that does for free the same job that other applications do at a cost, Roundcube is a new email client which is open source and entirely configurable. Its main features include support for multiple languages and MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions), whereas users will have access to an address book for the overall management of contacts.

Other basic options such as creating and deleting folders are likewise accounted for, and when sending a message the user can have it spellchecked in real time. Both messages and contacts can be searched, too.

Upcoming features will include support for PGP and S/MIME encryption along with attachment previews and threaded message listings (a noticeable omission right now). Keyboard shortcuts will also be added sometime down the line, and although I can live without them I realize how vital they are for more than one user out there.

As it was mentioned at the beginning, this client is provided at absolutely no cost. Downloading it is not that laborious either, since the current version weighs less than 2 MB. And setting it up is not difficult – twiddling with this or that is kept to a bare minimum.
