search cancel – Another Alternative To URL Shortening

Crum.bsThe Internet without URL shorteners would be a bit like the Tower Of London without the crows. There is such an interdependence at play that each concept has become a constituent part of the other.

Crumbs is a new URL shortening service that lets you do what services like it always let people do: take a “long” (IE, normal) URL and have it trimmed so that you can share it with whomever you fancy when tweeting, or in any other context in which you have to operate within a limited space.

That is nothing really novel. What is different from the rest of sites that do something similar is that using Crumbs you can set an expiration for the link. That is, you can specify that only a certain amount of people see it before it stops being operative.

Moreover, you can password-protect the resulting link, so that if you don’t want what you have shortened to be seen by prying eyes then Crumbs will most certainly have your back duly covered. In Their Own Words

“Shorten your URL’s.”

Why It Might Be A Killer

It places a lot of emphasis on the privacy and security of what is being shared.
