There are millions of get rich quick schemes out there. Some work, most definitely don’t. But as our world becomes more virtual, the prospect of making money online increases. And not just in your run-of-the-mill ways either. Here are 5 creative ways (you probably haven’t thought of) to make some cash online. Whether you’re looking for a way to escape the 9-5 rat race or you’re already an entrepreneur just looking for a little extra something on the side, if you want to make money online, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Become a virtual assistant
More and more busy startups are using virtual assistants to do administrative tasks for them online. From booking travel to answering phones, these gigs can pay up to $20, and are usually on a part-time basis, but if you work from home and are looking for an easy way to make some extra cash (and you’ve got some solid admin skills), this might be an excellent option.
2. Test mobile apps
If you’re one of those people who download and play app after app, then you should probably at least earn some bucks from your app-obsession. It turns out, you can make money by being an app tester. Check out uTest and find product-testing opportunities. The more you test, the better your rep, and the more opportunities you’ll have to bank some easy online bucks.
3. Publish an eBook
OK, so this one is limited to semi-capable writers. If you’ve ever thought of writing a book, then you should know that eBooks are the (easiest) way to go and, as it turns out, the most popular. Amazon says that eBook sales reached 8 million last year and are outselling hardbacks 2 to 1. Boom. Get your writing on, (thrillers and mysteries are the biggest sellers), and get some paper of another color, (you know… the kind you can spend).
4. Sell on Etsy
From graphic design services to printed tees and handmade birds, you can sell all of your handmade arts and crafts on Etsy and turn your artistic abilities into some extra cash. For the best ways to increase your sales, check out Katie Colette’s top tips to make money on Etsy.
5. Monetize your blog
Again, this is limited to to die-hard bloggers out there. But, if you’re one of those peeps, then it’s time you start monetizing your precious blog spot. Granted, you need a pretty strong following to attract ad sales, (see my article on “How to Pimp Your Blog” for some tips). But once you’ve placed ads on your blog and readers click them, you can get paid some mad cash. Check out Google AdSense for more info.
I’m off to start my eBook about the mysterious and suspenseful world of freelance writing. And after that, I’m going to go pimp my blog, and make millions, I’m sure. Now, you go capitalize on the Internet, people!
