Feeling The Positive Vibes: Stress Relief Tips For A Healthy And Productive Life

I think if you asked people who knew me they would say I’m a pretty positive person (at least I hope so!) I make it a priority to focus on the positive things in my life and process the negatives, then let them go. With the risk of sounding new age, if you want to live a productive life,  it’s all about good energy and feeling the positive vibes. But there is definitely an art to it. So, here are some top stress-relieving, positive-vibe-feeling tips to help you live fully and productively and up to your awesome potential.

1. Find the good stuff and acknowledge it

Did you know that our brains are actually wired to first feel negativity and fear, leaving the positive stuff to take a backseat. So how do you do a little positive re-wiring? Throughout the day there are about 99 things that are either neutral or positive, but we tend to focus on the one negative thing that happens each day. Solution? Try and acknowledge the positive things that happen throughout the day to start training your brain not to dwell on the negative.

2. Keep positive people around you

This tactic has worked out very well for me. I tend to surround myself with people who are “always look on the bright side of life” people. Again, I fancy myself this kind of person. And, trust me, life is not always rosy. Stress is always prevalent in our lives, it’s how we manage it that is important. Some people manage it better than other. If you’re not one of these people, make sure you have a sort of “good-stress-managing” role model around you that can help teach and inspire you to keep the stress low and the positivity high.

3. Take care of #1

Again, this is a biggie that I sometimes have trouble with. When things go wrong, I can be pretty self-critical sometimes and beat myself up about it. But I make sure this doesn’t last for too long. You’ve heard it over and over, but YOU are your first priority. Having self-compassion (I LOVE that!) means you are able to process the good and the bad in your life and are better able to take all of life’s curve balls in stride. With all the negativity in the news and in our face throughout the day, not to mention our natural inclination to absorb the bad before the good, it’s easy to let stress take over. The key is to fight back. The best stress relief tips? Acknowledge the positive things that happen throughout the day (there are many, I promise!), keep at least one master stress-manager around you, and take care of yourself, dude! The better you are able to block the stress and the negative, and create a more positive environment for yourself, the more productive and successful you will be in all aspects of your life. Boom.
