Exploring The New World Of Work [Infographic]

by Kasper Hulthin

In the last few years, cloud and mobile technology has radically transformed what it means to run a small business. Flexible workstyles and a “work anywhere on any device” approach has made it easy to move work to the optimal place and time, while making the old 9-to-5 in the cubicle a distant memory for some. In the spirit of National Small Business Week, Citrix polled more than 1250 small business leaders around the world on what helps make them more productive, efficient and connected in the new world of work.

The findings of this global survey reaffirm what those of us embracing new work styles already know. For example, 54 percent of U.S. small businesses say they are more productive and efficient using their personal devices for work. Around 43 percent agreed or strongly agreed that their use of social collaboration tools and video conferencing have made work meetings more productive. And more than 53 percent use video conferencing more at work now than they did a year ago.

The good news continues for flexible work strategies too, with 60 percent of U.S. respondents saying that men and women are afforded equal flexibility at work.
