The Truly Staggering Amount Of Money We Spend Online

ecommerce

Does anyone doubt that we’re in the golden age of ecommerce? While I personally love brick and mortar shops – and come from a town that has a really impressive downtown, complete with all of the local shops your heart could desire – sometimes you just can’t beat a great deal online and, if I’m being totally honest, I’m usually cheap before anything else.

While the big boys (i.e. Amazon, Zappos, etc.) undeniably run the ecommerce game just as hard as big box stores ran brick and mortar shopping in the ‘90s and ‘00s, startups are getting in on the ecommerce game in droves. Usually focusing on a specific niche (much like a boutique stores do in traditional commerce) ecommerce startups are thriving across the worldwide web.

If you doubt it, take a minute to think about the purchases you’ve made in the past two months. How many of them were purchased online? If you’re like a lot of us, probably a pretty sizable portion. The prices and convenience of online shopping simply can’t be beat most of the time.

If you’re still not sold on the idea that ecommerce is king, take a look at this great, minimalist visual representation of exactly how much money is being spent online – just in the time you have the site open. It’s also a great resource for any new ecommerce startups looking for an impactful way to represent exactly how big their market is to potential investors.

Can anyone say pitch deck?
