A call-to-action, or CTA, is an image or line of text included in a blog post that prompts visitors to perform a specific action. In addition to a company blog, CTAs can be included on website pages, social media, email blasts, guest blog posts, and pay-per-click marketing campaigns.
At the very least, businesses should include a call-to-action on every blog post published. Use these effective call-to-action examples to generate leads and convert more of your website traffic into paying customers.
1. Click here for a free sample!
If your business offers a product or service that can be purchased, offering a free sample in your call-to-action can be an effective way to reach more customers. If an individual follows the call-to-action and orders a free sample and likes the product, chances are higher they will become a paying customer. This call-to-action can be a simple text link at the bottom of your blog post that visitors can click on allowing them to fill out their information for a free sample.

Offering your readers a free trial or sample is an effective call-to-action and a way to increase sales.
2. Start your free trial now.
If your business offers an online service, why not let your readers try the service before purchasing? Just like a free sample, a free trial allows visitors to try the service before they buy. A text link at the bottom of the blog post should direct visitors to a page where they can sign-up. It can be even more effective if you offer the trial without the need for credit card or payment information.
3. Order now, while there’s still time.

Create a sense of urgency in your call-to-action so your readers act fast.
Create a sense of urgency by implying the product or service will only be available for a limited amount of time. Once you’ve written a blog post to detail the benefits or your product or service, create a simple text link that directs visitors to an order page where the product can be purchased directly.
4. Offer expires (insert date here).
If you’re offering a sale on a product or service, why not include this information within your company’s blog post? This call-to-action can include a date of your choice with a link to where visitors can make a purchase directly on your website. Not only can you offer a discount when visitors click the link, but you’ll be creating a sense of urgency that will prompt visitors to act fast.
5. Download now.
If your business offers a digital product or service, including a download link within your blog post is an easy way to direct visitors to a URL where the software can be purchased and downloaded. You can make this call-to-action even more effective by including a free trial or sample available when visitors download the file through the link in your blog post.
6. Click here to find out the details.
Just as the call-to-action implies, your website visitors can click the link to find out more information about your product, service, or company. Once visitors have clicked on the call-to-action, you can include detailed information and a way to purchase the product or service.
7. Sign up online at (insert website here).
This call-to-action is perfect for guest posts featured on websites other than your own. You can include this phrase at the bottom of the post directing readers to the URL where they can sign up or purchase the service. If you’re offering an online service, it can be even more effective if you offer readers a free trial.
8. Order Now!
This call-to-action is simple and effective. Not only are you creating a sense of urgency by telling reader to order now, but you’re also providing a link directly to a URL where visitors can purchase the product or service.
A call-to-action is there to prompt your readers to perform a specific action, but it’s up to you decide what action that is. Create a sense of urgency, offer a free trial or sample, or simply direct readers to a webpage where they can request more information, speak with someone, or review the details of your product or service. In any case, ensure you include a call-to-action in every blog post your company publishes.
