Tagglefish Hopes To Lift Websites Into The Limelight

It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock ‘n’ roll. Not gaining any ground? Struggling to be heard? One way to give your venture a boost is to upgrade that clunky, out-of-tune website into a pitch-perfect instrument.

Tagglefish Web Design & SEO is a web design firm that has just released a new service that allows individuals and businesses to convert old PSD + HTML websites to the popular and easy to use WordPress CMS.

Tagglefish knows firsthand about the struggles of reaching a wider audience. They’re a growing business, too. They aim to absorb all the frustration entailed in migrating your website. Customers also have the option of WordPress training. (With a minimum 3 page upgrade, Tagglefish is currently offering $100 off this service).

Recently, we caught up with the folks at Tagglefish to learn more.

How’d you come up with the name Tagglefish?

Tagglefish: After days of thinking of a unique name that captured the company brand, I think I went to a web 2.0 naming site and saw the word “Taggle” I then added the word fish to it and now here we are.

How many people did you start the company with and how many people work for you now?

Initially we started with 3 founders. Now its 2 (founders) and 2 employees.

Who or what inspires YOU?

Tony Hsieh from Zappos.com inspires me because of [his] positive spirit and tenacity to win.

How’d you fund this venture?

Self-funding and support from the local business community. We got it from website projects we did.  And we bartered with a local business owner for office space, office equipment, and use of labor in exchange for our marketing and development services.

What was the biggest mistake you made with this or a past company? Anything you would change?

We made mistakes in the past by not having [an] agreement in place with customers, focusing on one-off projects instead of focusing on long-term agreement[s] with current customers and focusing on sales.

Do you consider yourself successful now? If not, what’s it gonna take to make you feel successful?

No, we aren’t close to successful. We’re on our way.

It’s gonna take a concerted company effort to exploit bigger opportunities like local government, mid-sized business and developing a capacity to deliver bigger projects. We also want to focus on develop[ing] automated tools or software to scale our business.

Web App or site you couldn’t live without and why?

We couldn’t live with[out] Mixergy.com. That’s my inspiration and guidance.

Mobile App you’re in love with?

I love the Google voice app. It gives us the ability to receive incoming and make out-going calls using my Google voice-generated phone number.

iOS or Android?

I’m an iPhone kind of guy… I like the user experience and intuitiveness even through the typing sucks.

Anything else we should know about what makes you and your company so special?

We [are] special because we have a deep background and education in marketing and operations. We’re not just a tech company that’s trying to sell you the latest bells and whistles but a company that possesses the skill-sets to analyze and integrate the best solution possible within our knowledge base for your small or mid-sized business using CMS and web design.
