This week I sat down with recently named Forbes 30 under 30 for Real Estate 2012, Chuck Gordon. Chuck is co-founder of the Austin tech startup, Sparefoot.
While attending UCLA, Chuck got the itch to study abroad, and needed storage. After having to call up each mom-and-pop facility individually, he realized there was a huge need for an online marketplace for storage. He ended up storing his stuff at his friend Mario’s house. When he returned from studying in Singapore, Chuck and Mario partnered up and SpareFoot.com was born.
Chuck and Mario have led SpareFoot from inception to $4.5 million in funding. Currently, “Chario” helms a magnetic company culture of 40 employees, who work hard and play hard in Austin, TX. SpareFoot is disrupting the $22 billion self-storage industry to become its thought and tech leader.
Chuck’s insights into the processes of building a business off an idea and revolutionizing a legacy industry is a must see interview!
