Commotion Engine Animated Marketing Videos
(Communicate Your Unique Vision)

You know your company has arrived when it appears on an episode of The Simpsons. But that’s a crazy dream for most startups. The good news is that there’s another way to draw exciting attention. Commotion Engine is a guerrilla marketing firm that creates fun, animated marketing videos and explainer videos. These videos can be used for online marketing, business presentations and promotional campaigns, social media, websites, transportation marketing, SEO marketing, mobile application marketing, and more.

Commotion Engine partners with marketing agencies and businesses like real estate agencies, mobile application companies, and even gaming companies like Call Of Duty who need services to best advertise their products. Team member and marketing representative Esther Bowman had this to tell KillerStartups about how business is conducted at Commotion Engine:

What’s the greatest thing about your company/website? Why is it better than the competition?

We at Commotion Engine are very detail oriented. The team that creates the animated videos works for countless hours to deliver high quality results. Everything, including our website, has been meticulously thought through and carefully designed. We believe in striving for excellence in our daily work and offering affordable prices to our customers.

How’d you come up with the name for your company?

The idea came from the concept of “putting ideas in motion.” We basically get with our customers, find out what they want communicated, and then use a basic outline to put their thoughts into action. The purpose is to design something that people won’t forget and won’t stop talking about. We hope our videos cause a great deal of commotion!

How many people did the company start with and how many people work there now?

The Business Director of the company, Micah Neidhart, who lives in LA, started the company along with David Bowman, our Creative Director. There are about 10-12 members who work on different projects and live across the SW region of the United States.

What gave the founders confidence to pursue their big ideas?

The co-founders of Commotion Engine were both talented visual effects artists who had many connections in the video business and saw a high demand for animated, explainer videos in the marketing industry.

Remember the early days of starting up? Describe the struggles you went through.

David Bowman and Micah Neidhart worked hard to find an outlet for their skills that was in high demand. They spent laborious years building up their business and waiting for the work flow to be more consistent. They networked with other filmmakers by attending conferences and striking up conversations with potential employees and clients.

How does the team handle frustration?

David and Micah’s personalities are very professional, business-like and self-controlled. If there is a pressing deadline for one of their videos, they handle it in a calm, collected manner. Often, they’ve had to pull an all-nighter to meet a demanding schedule. This does not faze their morale one bit.

What’s the office environment like? Do you listen to music? Watch movies? Play video games?

Very controlled, work focused and quiet.
