Ah, the good old anti-facebook brigade… it’s something that grows by the hour. Just look at all these sites that let you interact on a social site that doesn’t play by Facebook’s rules at all. A case in point: Zonnk.com. In essence, Zonkk leta you come up with your very own social networking site.
Yes, that’s right. No more annoying privacy issues and the like. Here you will be given a ready chance to have a network created for as specific a purpose as you want. If you want to create a network to discuss Indy car racing you can do it. If you want to create a network to celebrate that “Once Upon A Time” has been renewed for a second season you can do it. You can discuss just whatever you like.
All you have to do in order to get started is sign up for a free account, pick a name for the network and then choose the URL you want it to be reachable at. This will necessarily carry a “.zonkk” extension.
Once the network itself has been created, you can then proceed to customize its appearance – the templates whichare provided make that process something quite easy. When you are finished, it is all mere matter of starting to invite friends over. Of course, it remains to be seen if there’s enough people who are going to ditch Facebook and take some other social site up for Zonkk to be really successful. But it’s always good to have options, I guess.
UPDATE: Zonkk.com stopped being supported in 2010. It looks like not that many people really needed an alternative to Facebook after all…

Why Zonkk.com It Might Be A Killer
