From Zombies To Missile Wars – Fitness Game Apps Are Sure To Get Your Heart Rate Up

Now, I’m certainly not afraid of a little gym action—in fact, I actually enjoy it (gasp!). But, many people have all intentions to exercise but just can’t find the motivation. And, the gym? Forget about it. If only exercise could be fun and interactive, like a game…yeah, there’s an app for that. These two are getting people off the couch and on the path to good health (and out of the path of zombies and missiles…explanation below).

Zombies, run!

There’s been a lot of talk about a potential zombie apocalypse looming in our near future (thank you, Miami face-eater). But this app is taking the speculation to a different apoloyptic world all together.

The app is an interactive, immersive running game that has users running for their lives, away from hoards of zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. They hear the story straight through their headphones and are given commands and orders they must follow (in-between your fave Britney Spears jams, of course).

Your mission? Collect crucial items like medicine and batteries while you run, in order to keep the survivors (and yourself) alive. By doing this you grow your base, and the bigger your base, the more missions you can play.

Oh yes, and there is, of course, the whole fitness aspect to Zombie, Run! The app will soon record distance, time, pace and calories burned for your runs

The $7.99 app is available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

Missile Wars

Holly, Julie has sent a deadly missile your way! You have 60 seconds to get out of the red blast center…run! Haha, I’m too quick for Julie’s puny missile, now she’s in for a serious counter-strike.

This is Missile Wars, the app that has you jumping out of your seat and running for safety to avoid strikes from your friends, anywhere in the world, in real-time. If you succeed you can work your way up the ranks and unlock more weapons and be promoted to Sargent, Commander, etc.

You can also keep track of who is attacking who and how they’re exactly doing it. Choose from several different missile types like the Yokozuna that’s fast, but not accurate or the Corporate Raider that’s also fast, but only has a small blast.

The app is free with in-app purchases like “more shields” and “health restoration”. It requires GPS and Push notifications and is available for iOS.

So, whether you’re evading zombies and running to save yourself and your base, or running to avoid a rapid virtual missile attack by you friend in France, these fitness apps will have you looking tight and right, without ever stepping foot into a gym.
