TransparencyCorps.org – A More Transparent Government

TransparencyCorps.orgPresented by The Sunlight Foundation, Transparency Corps is a brand new site that has the objective of making the activities of the American government more transparent to the public at large.

The idea is to provide site users (“The Corps”) different task such as reading earmark requests on the site and choosing the most interesting bits for all to read, or upload photos of you with signs going “Read The Bill” (obviously aimed at Congress).

This way, it is hoped that openness and accountability are brought about, and that positive change can materialize for the betterment of society.

As it is correctly pointed out online, we have come a long way on technological terms, but there are still some fields where human supervision is mandatory. That is the case of politics, and this website hopes to let the ones who are concerned about such issues help in the best way they can. The site is very clear and concise, and if the premise sounded good to you a visit to it will not go amiss.

TransparencyCorps.org In Their Own Words

“Transparency Corps is the Sunlight Foundation’s answer to the question, “How can I help?” There are many big problems that we can solve with technology, but we can’t solve them all. For many of the projects that make government transparency a reality, human eyes and analysis are required. With Transparency Corps, we break those tasks down into short, small actions that make a BIG difference. Join the Corps, and let’s get started!”
