SWG.fm – Sharing MP3s On Twitter

SWG.fmIf sharing music Twitter-style is what capitalizes your waking thoughts, then this site will let you have your fill. As it is the case with the many Twitter apps on offer out there, this site is very instant and it entails furnishing very little identifiable information in order to use it.

All you have to do is supplying your username (but not your password), inserting the name of the artist and adding the name of the song. You then simply click on “Send” in order to start tweeting.

What is the effect that systems like these can have in the music industry? Some say it is detrimental because people would resort to it in order to find the latest singles. On the other hand, some claim it plays an important role as it gives people the world over access to music files they would never chance upon otherwise. Personally, I like to think that these services act as effective windows of discovery, and end up expanding the music scene. And you? What do you think?
