Story Follower is an aggregator of news that actually places a lot of emphasis on letting you follow-up on any story that you enjoyed or found interesting. That is, every item that is posted will conduct to other stories that have been submitted or that will be submitted in due time.
Something interesting is that the site dispenses with arranging the featured stories in categories. The programmer explained that he previously did it, but that soon he realized that a large number of stories were hard to classify in that way. Hence, the site can be browsed by looking at the list of terms under the “What’s trendy” banner. These change almost by the hour, but I bet that some expressions such as “Apple Tablet”, “Barack Obama” and “Privacy” are going to be part of that list for a long time.
All in all, a different take on aggregators and the basic way they operate. If you want to find out whether that news item that you read elsewhere has had any ramifications, paying this site a visit will put you right on track.
StoryFollower.com In Their Own Words
“Story Follower began as most other products do, as a simple idea. I was reading an article about a young child that was tragically killed by a stray bullet. As with most local or smaller stories, I knew that unless I accidentally ran across another article about this, I would have no way of receiving information on follow-up articles unless I searched for them on my own manually or created some saved searches. I wondered if it would be possible to build a tool that gives people who read the news a place to submit articles and subscribe to stories that interest them. After a few model changes along the way, I settled on the model you now see.”
