Dreams Do Come True: Startups’ Products Now On Staples Shelves

startups

In the summer of 2014, Fundable and Staples teamed up to make startups history with the launch of the Crowd2Shelf contest. Today they made history again: the winners’ products are now available for purchase on the Staples site.

But wait, how did this happen? Let’s back up – here’s how the whole thing went down.

Thousands of startups from all over the country competed, their only commonality being that they all wanted to get their products onto Staples’ shelves. The first round of the Crowd2Shelf contest had them vying for the largest number of votes of support, from family, friends, and potential customers. The twenty-five startups who raked in the most votes then crowdfunded on Fundable, raising the money necessary to turn their prototypes into products.

A panel of judges then selected the contest winners in three categories: crowd favorites, most successful crowdfund, and judges’ picks.

Less than a year later, each winning company has made good on the thousands of pre-orders that came in during their Fundable campaign – and are now bracing themselves for a fresh wave of orders now that they’re available for purchase through Staples.com.

From everyone here at KillerStartups, congratulations to all the winners!!

The winning products include smart recessed lights, a folding keyboard, and an inventive tablet holder – check out the Staples site to see who else made the cut, and score your own award-winning startup product!
