You might remember back in June, we told you about the #GetStarted2014 startup competition, founded by Simpleweb, a Bristol-based company helping early-stage founders develop exciting new products and accelerate their startups.
The competition was open to anyone with an idea for a web or mobile app, from those with a distant dream of running a tech startup one day, to those already in the early stages of setting up their business.
The top 10 ideas (as voted for by you), created video pitches explaining their ideas which were judged by a panel of esteemed judges included tech angel Christopher Muenchhoff, entrepreneur Cindy Gallop (makelovenotporn), author Srinivas Rao (Unmistakable Creative), entrepreneur Jessica Erickson (Geekettes), VC Nicolas Wittenborn (Point Nine Capital), and entrepreneur Judith Clegg (Takeout).
But there could only be one winner. So without further ado, we introduce Social Belly….
Social Belly
Social Belly is a social market places connecting foodies with unique dining experiences…
Using the Social Belly platform, users can browse dinner parties to attend or choose to host their own, in a unique (and affordable!) alternative to the typical restaurant dining experience.
Check out Social Belly’s winning video pitch for more information:
As the winner of #GetStarted2014, Social Belly will receive:
- £25,000 worth of support from Simpleweb
- A customised marketing plan from Onboardly worth $15,000
- A place on the Rackspace Startup Program worth £15,900
- £2,000 worth of legal advice from TLT
“At Simpleweb we love working with startups. Being part of peoples hopes and dreams is exhilarating, which is why we created the GetStarted2014 competition”, said Mark Panay, MD of Simpleweb. “Social Belly is an awesome idea, with a great founder… Dimple Lalwani displayed a real talent for drumming up interest in her idea at the voting stage and we can’t wait to start working with her.”
The competition may be over (for this year!), but the #GetStarted2014 website is still open for anyone looking to showcase their startup idea.
