When blogging, choosing the right image (or images) to go with a post is never an afterthought, in the same way that any video which you embed has a serious amount of research behind. After all, we all know that the length of the visit is directly related to that.
Now, wouldn’t it be nice if there were a way for us to always give photographers and artists their due credit? Such a thing is actually possible – the Sprixi website is an initiative that aims to ensure the ones responsible for something are acknowledged at every turn.
This is carried out in the following way: when you browse the Sprixi database you will be able to choose in which way will the desired images be displayed. Two options are provided: having them displayed with a “Credited” label, or with an “uncredited” sign. In that way, the images (which are free since they come from Flickr and OpenClipArt) are used in the fairest way of all.
Personally, I think that a system like this is a very praiseworthy one. Just because an image is free it doesn’t mean the one who took it should be kept in the dark. I will make a point of start using it in my personal blog from now on.
