search cancel – Stories For Children By Children

Smories.comSmories is quite a lovable site. Rather, the basic premise is a lovable one.

You see, the site makes it possible for children to submit their own stories and read them for other children to enjoy. It is not really a social networking site, but there is a very marked social bent at play here.

The submitted stories are viewable on any web-enabled device, and this includes mobile phones. That makes them perfect for entertaining little ones during long journeys and so on. And the fact that playlists can be created just gives everything a touch of flexibility that never goes amiss.

Each month, 50 (free) original stories are submitted to the site. There are really no specific limitations when it comes to the genre, but it is obvious that a child will not come up with something like Poe’s “The Black Cat” . No, the bulk of the featured stories fall in genres like fiction, rhyming stories and poems. There is a maximum extension (stories must no be longer than 750 words), but that is the only requirement that is set down expressly on the site. In Their Own Words

“Smories are free original stories for kids, read by kids. 50 added every month.”
