search cancel – Online Service Marketplace is an online service market based in Australia. The site mediates the selling and buying of any type of service whether it be contractual construction work or one time projects.

How it works: Service seekers advertise their need and service providers bid amongst themselves for the job, ultimately saving the seeker money by upping the competition. All bids are displayed on the user’s project page; you’ll also find messaging and a section for invoices and payments. Service providers earn a reputation based on their personal Service Score. The site offers free registration and the only money exchanged is a 5% success fee on payments made. Currently, this is only available in Australia. In Their Own Words

“Finding the right professionals, contractors or freelancers to do your work can be exhausting, particularly if you’re not sure what you are really asking for or how much to pay. Welcome Service Seeking, the online market where people bid to do your work. You describe what you need and service providers bid for the job in an open market!
Then, you compare all the bids and choose the best value provider based on their bid price and their Service Score (our feedback system). You can communicate with a provider during the project via our private messaging facility and pay for the work securely whenever you like.”

Why It Might Be A Killer

ServiceSeeking puts the consumer in control. Rather than having to actively seek out someone to do their work, compare prices, make numerous phone calls, and even do a fair amount of research, the customer actually dictates their exact needs, price range, and dates. Ultimately, it saves the customer money while enhancing service providers’ reputations.
