Social networking is a key part of modern life, but security and privacy issues come along with that. If you go to church on Sunday and take a charming and demure album of selfies, you may want to share them with Grandma and Grandpa. But if you end up at that new karaoke bar drunkenly singing “Take Me to Church” and have your friends take a video of your escapades, you probably aren’t aiming for your family to see that post – or potential employers. But with most of our beloved social media sites, there’s not guarantee on that front – or for that matter, privacy. Facebook is spying on you; Instagram is censoring artistic expression; and SnapChat has celebrity photos being hacked. There has never been a better time to take back your personal security and privacy online, whether you’re worried about your college frat parties ending up on Google or companies mining your data. and SecureTribe lets you do just that. The modern, secure social network is designed from the ground up with end-to-end encryption and allows you to securely share select pieces of your life with carefully controlled groups of friends.
SecureTribe is a new, modern take on how a social media photo/video sharing service should work, allowing users to choose what aspects of their life to share with those around them. Users can create private and public groups – aka Tribes – choosing the specific people they do and don’t want to share content with – meaning you never again have to worry about shocking Grandma and Grandpa with those risque selfies. As a default, absolutely no content is shared with the general public without the user’s express permission. Most importantly, all content is encrypted before it leaves the iPhone and can only be viewed (decrypted) by an authorized user with the appropriate decryption key.
The app’s features are great for people from all walks of life and technical experience, whether your parents who want to create super secure Private tribes to safely share baby pics with family without any concern of online predators, or musicians, artists, stand-up comedians and other performers who want to engage with their fans in special VIP tribes that they control.
Users also have the option to post their photo in their “Secure Files” – a secure repository only they can access. Images stored on SecureTribe are fully encrypted and unable to be viewed by anyone without the proper decryption key, whereas when other social media networks save a user’s photo, it is entirely viewable by anyone that has access to their servers.
Full Control: Unlike other social networks with limited or no control over who sees their content, SecureTribe gives users have full control over who is allowed into their Tribe and what they can do within that Tribe.
No Leaks: This full control lets users lives their lives without accidentally leaking any content from one Tribe to another, meaning their prospective employer will NEVER stumble across their wild college party unless they choose to invite them to that Tribe.
Secure Sharing: Unless someone is authorized to see one of their Tribes, it is impossible for anyone to know the Tribe exists. So users can safely share church photos with their grandmother, without her knowing about their wild side.
SecureTribe is available for iPhone users. You an choose between a Free Basic account or a Premium account. Free Basic users can easily separate their personal and professional lives online and control which friends see what content using full end-to-end encryption, along with the ability to chat with their friends in Tribe Chat, invite friends to view their Tribes and view Tribes that their friends have invited you to, like/rate photos and videos, and allow some of their content to be public (viewable by everyone) and set the rest to private.
In addition to the features listed above, Premium users are able to create limited time subscriptions to their content; have access to advanced controls over what user’s can do with their content, and can control how many people can subscribe during a promotional period.
