search cancel – Find A Job In Your Area

LocalJobBoard.comJoining a very crowded market of job and vacancies posting services comes, a site which aims to help people in small and large communities find job openings in their area.

The site is free for jobseekers, who will find openings for positions in a very wide ranging specter of occupations and fields, and can browse job descriptions without even logging in; they have to create an account to upload their résumé, however, though note that only plain text CVs are accepted and have to be copy/pasted into a form provided by the site. Advertising a job opening, however, requires companies to pay a fee, which will buy them access to the résumé database for one month or a whole year, but in turn will allow them to post unlimited vacancies on the site during those periods, with a very substantial plus: jobs get reposted in other popular online job boards, including that of MySpace, Indeed and SimplyHired. The problem I found in this business model is that small businesses might be discouraged to pay the slightly pricy subscription fees. They can probably rethink this bit by allowing customers to buy access to a limited part of the database and post only a couple of openings, and thus open their resources for companies or business with less HR budget.
