Playgrub.com – Listening To The Current Hits

Playgrub.comBeing a big fan of music I am naturally on the lookout for new services when it comes to the streaming of songs and so on. I must admit that I am not very keen on actually listening to songs in my computer.

I am more of a CD fellow myself. In fact, a vast majority of songs that I do listen to when online (or from my desktop) are those that I have in physical albums I have bought. One of these things, I guess.

In any case, that does not keep me from getting to grips with this site. Essentially, it is a web-based application that will let you generate playlists by looking at what is currently being played in one of the sites that are featured. That is, you can listen to the songs making different charts such as the ones found at Last.fm and the Apple iTunes Charts, along with the selections making up the releases found in pages like Musicbraniz. The files are played locally – the system looks at what is being played online, and replicates it with what you have on you HD.

The list is created using a bookmarklet that you install by dragging and dropping it into your browser. Both new ways for creating lists and new sites are planned to be added. It will be interesting to see how this evolves from now on.
