There are selection tools, paintbrushes of various size and shape, retouching tools, layering and much more. You can enhance photos, analyze colors, add text, create stylized scenes with halftones and image blurring. There are filters, effects and clipping masks. Pixelmator is the Mac equivalent of Photoshop. It”s also compatible with over 100 different file formats, e.g. .tff, .png, .eps, etc. You can use it in tandem with your iSight camera to create layered photos of the world around you. Pixelmator uses your Mac”s video card for processing so it”s extremely fast too. Users will need Tiger 10.4 or later to use it when it becomes available. In Their Own Words

Why It Might Be A Killer

Cool apps like this make you want to buy a Mac; not only is the keen aestheticism of the product a sight to behold, it”s got also impressive capabilities; the blending and layering of images looks pretty slick. Pixelmator comes out some time in July, and it”s only $59.

Some Questions About

Again, only Mac users will be able to use this, so the market is limited, albeit growing. Photoshop and CS3 for Mac feature many of the same tools already.
