PeopleAggregator.net – Open and DIY Social Networking

PeopleAggregator.netPeople Aggregator is an open social network which seeks to expand the concept of networking itself. Aggregator´s founder, Marc Canter, aims to keep users from being locked in one standard, and has therefore created a full fledged social network that is also able to collaborate with other networks.

It uses open APIs so that all web applications that support the APIs can run seamless integrations. Users will be able to create their own scaled down social networks, without having to learn code; plus Aggregator´s own code is available for everyone, to be modified to create new interfaces, or to extend functionality. The site is also a Digital Identity Hub, meaning that users will be able to utilize a single sign on, using, for example, their Flickr or Blogger ID; profile data can also be imported/exported without losing any content. People Aggregator will allow users to create blogs, media galleries, podcasts, vlogcasts, and forums. As an open social network, users can freely move between similar networks without having to reestablish profile info, blog posts, etc.
