Almost 30 states in the US have either legalized or decriminalized various forms of cannabis for recreation, medical purposes, or both, despite it remaining illegal under federal law. The number of states permitting medical marijuana grew by almost 20 percent and the number of states with recreational marijuana doubled in 2016 alone – meaning that 95% of the US population now lives in a state with some form of legalized weed (including CBD). Which means that it’s high time (pun intended) for a social network for marijuana users – and Kannatopia has us covered.
Founded in 2015, Kannatopia is a 21+ “cannabis social community for modern and medical cannabis consumers.” The platform is intended for both enthusiasts and patients, Kannatopia vision is to “connect the cannabis world,” and their mission is to “put an end to social stigmas and stereotypes that exist for medical patients and adult recreational consumers.” The site is meant to be a community for users with similar interests to connect, socialize, share, learn, and explore together.
Kannatopia lets users track and share their favorite strains and cannabis products; message friends with self-destruct chat; recommend gear, places, product and strains to the Kannatopia community; and check out how-to, recipe and travel guides, among other things. The UI is simple and clean, with all of the features easy to find and use.
Social Platform: The social network portion of the site includes invitations, followers, profiles, notifications, and self-destruct messaging. Cannabis Guides: The Guides feature allows you to share your cannabis experience by creating different types of guides, including travel, how-to, and recipe. You an also check out guides from other users.
Strain and Product Recommendations: Recommend cannabis strains, cannabis products, accessories, and dispensaries to your friends and the community, and read other user recommendations.
Track and Share Your Favorite Cannabis Products: Using their Kannalog feature, you can record new strains, brands, and products you try as well as results from medical usage. This features allows you to create a new entry, edit any current information or delete an entry. If you want to let your friends know what you’re checking out, you can turn on sharing, and your entries will appear in your friends’ post feeds.
Connect With The Cannabis Industry: Kannatopia lets users connect with cannabis companies and brands through posts, guides and reviews.
If you’re interested in supporting cannabis freedom and connecting with like-minded folk, Kannatopia is available through their web platform and mobile devices. They operate in the 24 Medical Marijuana States and Washington D.C. As a medical marijuana patient, I’m looking forward to seeing what the community has to offer.
