I was never too keen on stop-motion films and features when I was a child. It was only when I grew up that I learned to appreciate all the effort that goes into creating one such piece. It is a process that will never be simplified beyond a certain point. And that certain point is reached by the application being reviewed right now.
Found at JellyCam.co.uk, this is an application that will let you use your webcam to shoot as many stills as you would need for putting together a stop-motion clip. And users of JellyCam can also upload these pictures that they have lying around, and make a clip with them instead.
In both cases, we are talking about an application that can be downloaded and used at no cost.
I have no reservations recommending this service to would-be animators. And those who tend to write stop-motion films off (like I did when I was younger) are also going to find this site worth a look – it will let them have a realistic understanding of the time that goes into creating them.
