Using LinkedIn To Boost Your Leads And Sales

If you are not using social media to promote your business a wake up call is in order. The days of attracting the customer with outbound marketing is becoming a small component of a marketing campaign.

Today the customer looks for what they want and if the information about your product is not accurate and easily accessible you lose the customer. If you are looking for leads and sales LinkedIn is one of the tools you can use to increase your chances.


Know Your Contacts

Having a million contacts means absolutely nothing if you don’t know who they are or what they do. Every time you get a new contact put it in a category you can access easily. Create groups for every industry in your contacts even if the group has only one person. Once you categorize the groups try to increase the size by communicating with the people in each group regularly.

Know What Your Contacts Want

Now that you know who they are find out what they want. Create a one time survey unique to all your groups so every time a new member joins you can have them fill it out. This is an invaluable resource which gives you access to a list of targeted customers with what they want and need. Don’t turn the survey into an SAT exam, make it playful. This is the only way you will be guaranteed a high return for your survey.

Use Media

Would you rather read a two page article or watch a video of that same content. Most people prefer the video so make sure you use it to communicate with your contacts. Join different groups with the same interests and offer tips and help on how to perform tasks in your field. Make sure you know what you are talking about on the informative videos you post. Confidence is very important and the information you are trying to convey has to come from someone they can trust.  Look at the video before you post it and critically assess your performance. If you have any doubts practice until you are polished.


Answering Questions

Answering questions is one of the best ways to increase your contacts and potential customers. If you don’t know the answer to a particular question do a little research from a reliable source and post the answer. Try to give answers to questions posted in different groups so you can get a cross section of customers.


The benefit of having people on LinkedIn is it gives you information about people you are likely to meet in your business dealings. If you are going to a meeting or conference find out the names of the people attending and go to their LinkedIn page to find out more about them. Knowing something about the managers and marketers you are about to meet will leave a good first impression.


Visibility is one of the keys to generating leads. If people can see you and know who you are you have a better chance of grabbing the sale. LinkedIn is one more tool you can use to let everyone know who you are.
