Some people are comparing this to Twitter, but I don’t agree at all. This is not a micro-blogging platform but rather a macro-sharing tool.
The limit of characters alone justifies that distinction – while Twitter is limited to 140, Glide Engage offers 1,400. There is just no comparison. And as if that wasn’t enough, Glide Engage comes complete with the ability to share files of every denomination by default. Photographs and audio clips can be shared. In actuality, media of every type can be put across using it.
The fact that it comes complete with all the features that were enumerated above does not necessarily make it a “better” or “worse” platform than Twitter. Twitter’s main claim to fame might just as well be its simplicity and upgradeability. Glide Engage comes off the rack with all the upgrades one could need, and as such it will fit the needs of those aiming to share much more than small updates, and who do not want to start going from app to app until they have augmented the platform enough to meet their file sharing needs.
Summing up: Glide Engage is a great tool, brimming with powerful features. But do not compare it with Twitter. They won’t even compete directly.
