com was launched on 2000 and currently has members worldwide and hundreds of thousands of caches available. But first, what is geocaching? Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called “geocaches” or “caches”) anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and “treasure,” usually toys or trinkets of little value. Caches are published by regional cache reviewers, and the site stresses family-oriented caching. The site offers a basic, free, membership which allows you to see coordinates for most caches in its database, and a premium, paid-subscription account which offers additional features and a few more cache sites.
