Color.com – Share Media With Those Who Are Near

Color.comColor is a new mobile application that intends to completely redefine the way in which people share photos and videos. Color is available both for iOS and Android, and the first thing that stands out about it is the extent to which it lets people collaborate towards the creation of albums.

Multiple iPhone and Android devices can be used at the same time in order to capture both images and videos, and these can be shared instantly, without the need to have them uploaded or attached for others to see them. And the way Color works, you are not required to befriend anybody in order to have your media shared with. The people that would be able to see it are the ones who are near.

And that brings me to one of the most interesting aspects of Color: the app does not use GPS to determine how close or far users are from each other. It looks at plenty of other indicators such as sound levels, Bluetooth readings, antenna strength, light readings and even the direction that the user is actually pointing his mobile. And it uses all that to determine your proximity to other users. The more you interact with certain people (IE, the more you cross paths with them) then the stronger the connection will become.

Color, then, presents itself as an elastic way to have images shared with people. It dispenses with the concept of uploading and attaching media, and the app is not reliant on GPS information to work as intended.
