Chyrp.net – Lightweight Blogging

Chyrp.netChyrp is a cross between light-comms tumblelogs and full out blogs. It’s built on PHP and MySQL and uses a Feathers system—it’s made basically so you can do what you want with it.

It’s also open source, so if you happen to be displeased with anything, you’re free to do your own tweaking. Chyrp is flexible enough to be used in any context—whether it be for your personal thoughts or for corporate propaganda. It comes with an optional tumblelog plug-in. If you want to throw in more functionality, venture over to the extensions category. Here you’ll find extensions for Twitter, Jaiku, for WYSIWYG editing, for the German language and Portuguese too.

Chyrp.net In Their Own Words

“Chyrp is a blogging engine designed to be very lightweight while retaining functionality. It is driven by PHP and MySQL (with some AJAX thrown in), and has a pimpin’ theme and module engine, so you can personalize it however you want.”

Why Chyrp.net It Might Be A Killer

Chyrp is a fine example of a simple, lightweight blog engine. It’s simple enough that those used to WordPress etc, won’t have any trouble configuring it; it’s also flexible enough that those with a little more tech smarts can tweak with it as much as they like to fit their taste.
