Ash.org – Helping to Educate About Smoking

Ash is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the rights of nonsmokers and wishes to protect nonsmokers from the harm that can come to them because of the many smokers in the world. This organization uses the power of the law to fight smoking in the courts and with regulatory agencies. It was formed in 1976 by medical doctors and other citizens who were aware of the need for nonsmokers’ rights advocates. On Ash.org, users can learn more about this organization and what the members do to protect the rights of those who choose not to smoke.

Ash.org includes a mission statement which states that the mission of the group is to end worldwide disease caused by tobacco. They also want to be a prime mover in global tobacco control and use communication to achieve this goal. This is all clearly explained on the website. Ash also offers an annual report – site visitors can read it in order to get an idea of the progress that has been made towards increasing nonsmokers’ rights over the last year.

Under the “resources” tab, visitors can find smoking statistics and various other facts. Smoking bans are discussed, and there is a list of states where smoking is banned in the workplace and in other locations. Ash.org also has a listing of recent news items related to smoking as well as a place where users can donate to the cause. If necessary, one can find phone numbers and addresses for the group as well.
