They are a group of individuals who have an independent mind, and an independent spirit, but who have also learned to work together in a team setting in order to tackle different projects. Headquartered in Washington DC, and founded in the year 1983 this education minded organization has had as its mission that of helping engineers, who work in both the public and private sector, communicate with each other, and provide instruction to individuals who are working at receiving training, and education in this field of work.
This nonprofit organization, has worked in connection with its partners around the world to promote excellence in instruction, research, public service, and in private practice. Their vision as explained at asee.org is to serve as leaders in the field, and encourage communication between governments, education professionals, and engineering technicians. The members of The American Society for Engineering Education come from a wide range of backgrounds. Included in their membership are persons who are currently working as engineers. There are also people who have worked as engineers for the majority of their life, and now are retired. These professionals serve as a fountain of information for the students, and younger individuals in high school and grade school who also take advantage of the services provided by asee.org.
