Identifying teenagers with exceptional artistic and literary talent, the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers showcases their work to a national audience. On artandwriting.org, you can view some of these works. About 1400 awards are given, where national winners receive recognition at Carnegie Hall.
Artandwriting.org also honors teachers who instruct award winning students, giving them recognition for fostering creativity. Special Ovation Inspired Teaching Awards are also presented to teachers whose students repeatedly win honors. Photos of several of their alumni can be seen on artandwriting.org, and you can also click on links to some of the organization’s publications.
Their Regional Affiliates present awards programs in local communities, and recognize students in public ceremonies.
In the Exhibitions link, you can view galleries of National-Award winning work in the online galleries, and view photos of the Art.Write.Now. Exhibition. The Art.Write.Now. Tour is a national tour of the exhibition where chosen works of art are hosted by venues across the United States.
Artandwriting.org also features a National Catalog, where you can download a copy of the National Catalog of Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and dedicated students can receive recognition for their efforts. Also available for download is the Spark, showcasing work from 7th and 8th grade students from around the country.
The Alliance also presents over a quarter million dollars in scholarships annually to award winners and their teachers. Winners of the Portfolio Gold Medal receive scholarships of ten thousand dollars each, and winners of Portfolio Silver Medals with Distinction receive scholarships of one thousand dollars each. Other awards include the New York Life Award, sponsored by the New York Life Foundation, and the AMD Game Changer Award, presented to top winners in the video game design category.
