Aos.org – The Best Orchid Society

AOS.org is the home of the American Orchid Society. AOS.org was formed in Massachusetts, in 1921 by 35 men and 1 woman. Their goal was to allow the importation of orchids and to organize orchids exhibits across the nation. These fundamentals still hold true to the group who focus on the preservation and joy of orchids.

Society members have devoted their time not only to the flowers, but to charities that focus upon the plants. In 1932, they published their first periodical about the flower called “Orchids, the Magazine of the Orchid Society.” As of 2012, the periodical is now a published, glossy magazine. AOS.org provides comprehensive information about the flower as well as conservation projects. There are events across the nation dedicated to orchids and each one is found on the website. Participants are urged to join in the competitions and judge them, as well. Meetings are also held for the group and can be found on the website for tracking purposes. Authors are also invited to submit essays for their contest and advertisers are more than welcome to gain information on how to advertise their products within the magazine. Currently they have over 16,000 members who all share a passion for the flower. They have many affiliates and are always open to accepting more. Affiliates receive the perks of having orchid society members judge their shows and support their events. Membership for two years only costs $100, and the sign up process is easy. When membership is renewed, society members are given special coupons that are worth $30 off of purchases more than $100.
