Altatennis.org – Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association

Back in 1934, a group of tennis enthusiasts contacted the United States Lawn Tennis Association (USLTA) regarding founding a local chapter in the Atlanta, Georgia community. That early contact became the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association, a registered member of the USLTA and organization with the stated purpose to promote tennis competitions and development in the area. From those humble beginnings it took many years to realize the dream as membership growth was very slow over the next 37 years. Visitors to their website at altatennis.org will learn of this history and the year of 1971 when membership finally crossed 1000, and the first league play began. Today the association has over 80,000 members and a full time paid staff of seven. The site is open to the public for viewing the history of the association and upcoming events, but is a member based site where the affiliates can register, join and renew their member fees of $25 per year.

For players who require assistance finding a team to join, or teams needing to find additional players, altatennis.org operates a search engine that can direct visitors to the contact person closest to their home address. Complete information is provided for all the various leagues and teams for men, women and children with contact information for the program coordinator. All of the competition statistics and team standings are available at altatennis.org as well. Team rosters, schedules and even more information are available to paying members only. The website also has registration forms and a complete FAQ.
