Aldf.org – Animal Legal Defense Fund

The animal legal defense fund, aldf.org functions as a world wide information center with the mission to protect the lives of animals by legal means. The company is over 30 years old and operates as a non for profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. ALDF is active in contributing to defining and forming legislation that can be brought to the floor of the congress and enacted into law. They focus on the enforcement of current law and expansion of weak or insufficient laws. Their membership exceeds 100,000 active members who work daily towards prevention of animal cruelty and suffering. The pages of aldf.org contain the stories of cases and campaigns that have been waged, and an active blog. There are many resources provided for people to educate and advise them when they have witnessed animal abuse, or wish to participate in legal events.

The members strongly believe in the rights of animals to live cruelty and abuse free. They are equipped with a team of lawyers who are ready to sue if necessary to stop cruelty. Because many laws already exist for the protection of animals, lawyers for ALDF often handle cases that are in clear violation of those laws. Each day, the attorneys are actively in the pursuit of animal abusers and people who sign up at aldf.org are sent email alerts telling how to assist, or where help is needed. For visitors that are interested in donating to the cause and understand that often it takes large sums of money to fight corporate abusers, a donation page is available. Guests can choose from a one time or a recurring donation.
