Albat.org – Linebuilding Training Apprenticeship Programs

ALBAT.org provides information and appointments for people who want to receive American Linebuilders Apprenticeship Training. ALBAT offers a paid training program through which qualified applicants can learn linebuilding while getting paid full-time on the job.

This site has a course calendar, job descriptions for common jobs within the apprenticeship, and a login system for apprentices who are currently learning through the system. This organization is affiliated with the NECA, or National Electric Contractor’s Organization, NJATC, the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and IBEW, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Types of jobs an apprentice can train for through ALBAT are wide, but include cable splicer technicians, substation technicians, and traffic signal technicians. Through the ALBAT.org apprenticeship program, apprentices learn the systems, tools and terminology needed to succeed in linebuilding. They learn to install equipment, pull wires, and use important tools, and they also learn to read blueprints, plan wiring layout, and run control systems needed to operate the wiring. Properly learning the procedures, tools and systems needed to do jobs in this trade helps ensure the on-the-job safety of electrical wiring professionals, who do a dangerous job that exposes them to the risk of injury from electrocution and falls. Workers in this field often deal with high-voltage wiring, and they frequently work in high locations, like on electrical poles. Properly training apprentices through programs like ALBAT.org ensures that every crew member has the information and skills that are necessary on the job to keep himself and other crew members safe.
