Alaskasealife.org is the official website for The Alaska SeaLife Center. It is Alaska’s only aquarium and ocean wildlife rescue center open to the public. The program is a non-profit corporation that “generates and shares scientific knowledge to promote understanding and stewardship of Alaska’s marine ecosystems.”
Visitors are welcomed 7 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm during the winter season, and during the summer season, Monday through Thursday 9am to 6:30 pm, Friday through Sunday 8am to 6:30 pm. Visitors have the opportunity to get up close and personal with many species of Alaskan marine life such as puffins, octopus, sea lions, Alaskan king crab and deep sea fish. The Center can be reached year round from the Seward Highway, or via the Alaska railroad or cruise ship.
There are several educational programs offered daily. These include day programs, Nocturne sleepovers, outreach programs and distance learning programs. School groups are invited to visit and there is also a space to host events in the aquarium.
Alaskasealife.org offers information about the Rehabilitation Program and how the Center helps to maintain the integrity of the marine ecosystem of Alaska. Visitors to the site can check in on current patients in the rehabilitation center and can also find more information about what to do if they encounter a stranded animal in the wild.
