Currently featured on the website akon.com is a photograph of Akon in concert. Akon.com also states that a new website is coming soon. Visitors are still able to use links along the top of the website akon.com to find and join Akon’s official Facebook account, Twitter account, and YouTube channel. His Facebook account includes music samples, news stories, music videos and up to the minute postings by Akon himself. His Twitter account also includes time sensitive postings by Akon, with information about fellow recording artists and his own information. It also includes musings and insights into his own thoughts and ideas. Finally, his YouTube channel highlights his own music videos.
Akon is an R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. He first became popular in the United States in 2004 with his debut album “Trouble,” featuring the song “Locked Up.” His second album, “Konvicted,” won two Grammy awards for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, the latter for the song “Smack That.” He has also founded two record labels, Konvict Muzik and Kon Live Distribution. Both have been successful and have included producing music for Lady Gaga and T-Pain.
Akon is also a business man, venturing into the world of fashion. He started his own clothing line, named “Konvict Clothing” in February 2007. Urban streetwear is the main end product including hoodies and jeans. He also started Aliaune, the upscale version of the Konvict brand. It also features denim jeans, vests, blazers and polo shirts.
