AFAA.org – Automatic Fire Alarm Association

AFAA.orgThe AFAA.org website, as part of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association, works to improve the “quality, reliability and value of Fire and Life-Safety Systems.” The AFAA does this in a variety of ways such as the advocating of proper tests and inspections, promoting installations which are code compliant, and through the development and delivery of high quality educational programs and training. They also work with legislative bodies to develop ordinances and support public awareness of how important life and fire-safety systems are. In order to reduce fire deaths, AFAA.org promotes the proper application of carbon monoxide and smoke alarms.

The AFAA website offers training and other resources about fire safety. Training options include online courses, NICET certification, webinars, and PDFs of past webinars. AFAA.org also offers a training calendar and seminar sponsorship information. Tools provided in the resource section of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association website include a Fire Alarm Symbols for AutoCad file, Code Binder Template, Responsibilities List, and the NAC Circuit Calculator. The BattCalc (Battery Set Size Calculator) developed by Michael Baker is also available through a link from the AFAA resources page.

The AFAA.org website also features an online store. The store offers forms, event registration, manuals, and merchandise. Merchandise available in the shop includes AFAA logo golf shirts and Oxford shirts. Folks may also sign up for an AFAA webinar sponsorship through the web store for $4,000. Donations may be made in amounts of $100, $250, $500, or $1000 through the website as well. Donations go to the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Fire Protection Research Foundation. Folks who are interested in joining the AFAA may view membership benefits and print the membership application from the AFAA.org website.
